The "Black Cowboys on the Chisholm Trail"
The Library is hosting a presentation with the Galveston County Historical Commission on the Black Cowboys on the Chisholm Trail. The presentation will discuss the relationship between George W. Butler, pioneer settler of League City, and the slaves in the camp who became his employees. They became black cowboys on the Chisholm Trail after the war and later, pioneers of the 1867 Settlement, in Texas City.
